Roof Tiles

Sahtas has developed expertise in the manufacture of roof tiles over decades, employing artisans skilled in the process of hand moulding, drying and firing the clay, to give the rich, warm tones that give character to any roof.

The raw clay is excavated from our own clay pits, and undergoes a process known as ‘clay washing’; this removes harmful impurities before being moulded and shaped by our tile makers. The tiles are dried before firing in our traditional Hoffman kilns for six days at over 1000 degrees Celsius, before being allowed to cool slowly in a precise and controlled environment.

All Sahtas tiles and fittings are rigorously tested by Lucideon, an independent test house to ensure compliance with British standards, and are backed by our comprehensive 30 year guarantee.
